Feedback is important to us. It helps us to understand what our customers like about our service and what improvements we can make in the future. It also gives us good insight into each business we work with and what improvements our products have made to productivity and efficiency.

We contacted two recent customers to ask them some questions about their experience with Atlantis Tanks. Both customers had a complete fuel management system installed. Take a look at their feedback:

The Company

Chippindale Plant provides construction equipment to businesses operating in the north of England, where its 8 depots are based, and also nationwide. The company hires and sells an industry-leading range of plant, tools, excavator attachments and site accommodation.

Please describe the circumstances/challenge that made your new tanks, pumps and fuel management system installation necessary or beneficial?

The government changed the legislation about the use of red diesel within the construction industry. This resulted in a large increase in costs for us to supply white diesel within our hire fleet. We needed to come up with a solution to improve the efficiency of our diesel use in order to offset the rise in costs.

Our key objectives were to find a way to both reduce costs and charge customers for white diesel efficiently, which would allow us to prove how much diesel was refilled once returned to our depot network.

We undertook a thorough cost exercise to determine if we could essentially use white diesel to fill up our wagons and plant together (The replacement of red with white allowed us to take our commercial fleet into consideration). It worked out that by having a fuel management system and fuel tank, we would save on operating costs, which included cheaper bulk fuel pricing, saving time for drivers on driving further to reach designated fuel stations with fuel card discounts and being able to charge fuel to customers by an exact amount.

After researching the various options, we decided on tanks and pumps supplied by Atlantis Tanks integrated with a fuel management system from Triscan Group.

Has the installation provided a solution to the challenge? If so, what have been the benefits?

The installation has benefited our depot network because our management team can now track fuel usage. The fuel system also gives our customers the peace of mind that we are not guessing the amount of fuel that we are charging them.

The system saves us man hours and provides real-time data on fuel usage. This means that we can make decisions quickly, without tying up staff for extended amounts of time as they collate the required data. The new tank setup means we have a new, reliable and future-proofed fuel storage solution.

How did the installation go?

The installation of the tanks went very well, despite the external factors with parts. The tanks were installed effectively alongside the fuel management system as well. There was no significant disruption or downtime during the installation and the integration went very smoothly.
