Fuel storage tanks form part of a wider system. Their capacity, connections and associated equipment need to work with the generators they supply and the site where they operate.
Atlantis reviews these requirements with customers and specialist project teams. We consider feed and return arrangements, filling points, monitoring, maintenance access and fuel transfer equipment as part of the specification.
From removable fittings and drop tubes to protective paint finishes, our technology focuses on practical operation and servicing throughout the tank’s working life.
Imperium® technology is applied across every Atlantis steel tank, including our larger GBI generator bulk tanks.
Developed through our in-house design and manufacturing capability, the system brings modular construction and practical service access into the tank design.
Removable fittings plates allow fittings to be accessed, removed, serviced and maintained more easily. Interchangeable configurations also provide flexibility around the connections required by different applications.
Whether the requirement is a smaller generator feed tank or a larger bulk tank, the principle remains the same: robust steel construction with the details of installation and maintenance considered from the outset.
Atlantis reviews connection arrangements alongside the generator requirements, pipework layout and available access.
Feed and return connections
Configured around the equipment supplied and the agreed fuel circuit.
Filling arrangements
Fill points and cabinet options considered alongside tanker access and delivery requirements.
Removable fittings plates
Providing practical access to connections for removal, servicing and maintenance.
Monitoring and equipment provision
Connections for gauges, probes, pumps and fuel polishing considered as part of the specification.
On GBI tanks, these details are brought together within the fittings plate and associated pipework arrangement, helping the tank integrate with the wider installation.
Atlantis’s removable drop tube system draws fuel from the tank to supply a pump or fuel polisher, where specified.
The assembly includes a non-return valve and strainer, with a flexible downpipe designed for continuous immersion in the intended fuel. Its flexibility makes removal more practical where a low ceiling restricts access above the tank.
The removable arrangement allows the strainer to be accessed or replaced if blocked by sludge, and the valve to be serviced or replaced. A priming port also helps with system priming.
These features can help reduce maintenance disruption and make servicing more straightforward.
Atlantis’s standard paint finish uses Zinfos 340WS anti-corrosive paint, typically applied to a dry film thickness of 75 microns.
Where the site or project specification requires additional protection, specialist C3 and C5 coating systems are available. All specialist paint finishes are applied in a state-of-the-art paint facility, with surface preparation and coating build selected for the required finish.
Our upgrade options include:
Standard colours include Holly Bush Green, Slate Grey, Saddle Brown and Black. Alternative RAL colours can be discussed during specification.
Depending on the specification, Atlantis tank packages can include fuel transfer pumps, control panels, level gauges, alarms and fuel polishing equipment.
Fuel polishing helps remove particulates and separate water from stored fuel. Pumping and monitoring arrangements are reviewed around the tank, generator system and required control interfaces.
Maintenance access is considered alongside equipment selection. Removable fittings plates and drop tubes help make connections, valves and strainers more accessible for servicing.
By reviewing these details together, we help customers develop a tank package suited to its operating requirements and ongoing maintenance needs.

Yes. Imperium® technology applies across Atlantis’s steel tank range, including the larger GBI generator bulk tanks. Its removable fittings arrangements support access for servicing and maintenance across different tank sizes.
A removable fittings plate provides access to connections and fittings, allowing them to be removed, serviced and maintained more easily. Alternative configurations can also be considered, subject to tank suitability and the agreed specification.
A removable drop tube draws fuel from inside the tank to supply a pump or fuel polisher. The assembly includes a non-return valve and strainer, with a priming port to support system priming.
A flexible downpipe makes removal more practical where there is limited headroom above the tank. This is particularly useful in tank rooms or basements where a rigid tube could be difficult to withdraw.
Yes. The removable arrangement provides access to the strainer and non-return valve for servicing or replacement. This helps address issues such as a strainer becoming blocked by sludge.
Atlantis’s standard finish uses Zinfos 340WS anti-corrosive paint, typically applied to a dry film thickness of 75 microns. The finish and colour are confirmed as part of your tank specification.
Atlantis offers C3 and C5 coating systems with Medium, High and Very High durability options. Specialist finishes are applied in a state-of-the-art paint facility, with preparation and coating build matched to the selected system.
The choice depends on the site environment and project requirements. C3 options address environments such as urban and industrial atmospheres with moderate pollution and low salinity. C5 options address more aggressive conditions, including high humidity and high salinity. Our team can help review the appropriate specification.
Standard colours include Holly Bush Green, Slate Grey, Saddle Brown and Black. Alternative RAL colours can be discussed, with availability and any additional cost confirmed during quotation.
Depending on the specification, tank packages can incorporate pumps, control panels, gauges, alarms and fuel polishing. Suitable monitoring equipment can also provide connections to a building management system where required.
