Our New Team Members and News from Cereals Expo 22

This year is flying by – we’re already into August and it feels like we just started! As autumn heads relentlessly our way, we know that you’ll be getting ready for a busy time of year. But, we thought you’d like to hear some of our latest news and also meet two of our newest team members.

For those of you that remember, last year we published two ‘Meet the Team’ blog posts to introduce our staff members and put some faces to the voices you talk to on the phone. (Meet the Team Part 1 and Meet the Team Part 2) To get the info, we provided our staff with a short questionnaire to fill in… some of the answers were surprising, to say the least. Our two new team members have provided some equally juicy facts, which you’ll find below.

Cereals Expo 2022

As some of you will know, we’re regulars at the Cereals Expo, the world’s leading technical event for the arable industry. The 2022 exhibition was held on Wednesday the 8th and Thursday the 9th of June at Chrishall Grange, and we think it was the best show yet. Scroll down to our Cereals update when you’ve finished reading about our new team members, to find out what key trends we discovered in the industry.

Here’s the lowdown on our new team members:

Firstly, we’re pleased to welcome Geoff Fenwick, who joined us in November 2021 to manage our PuraTank business development.

Here are the questions we put to Geoff along with his answers:
1. What did you want to be as a child?

Taller. It was often used as a ‘yardstick’ accompanying a comment about how much I had grown. Peaked out at 6’1″, a fraction behind my older brother, but would have preferred another 2 – 3 inches if I’m honest. I would have been a devastating force on the rugby pitch if only a little taller!

2. If you had to vote for one Atlantis Tanks staff member to be the new Prime Minister, who would it be and why?

A difficult question to answer as Wednesday’s Prime Minister’s Questions (PMQs) is a guilty pleasure of mine. I think the staff at Atlantis are all too honest and ethical to belittle themselves in Parliament. As Billy Connolly once said, “The desire to be a politician should bar you for life from ever becoming one.” (Atlantis: We wholeheartedly agree here, Geoff!)

3. What do you enjoy most about your role at Atlantis?

Being part of a team. There is such a variety of abilities and skills on evidence throughout the organisation, from administration and sales to assembly and logistics, it is impossible not to learn from each team member. I just love engaging with people and, of course, our customers always make it interesting.

4. What’s one thing that none of the Atlantis team knows about you?

I’m pretty much an open book really with an unremarkable life (to date). At the age of 15 however, I was present at the England vs. Australia rugby match at Twickenham, which gained notoriety and was described by the BBC as “perhaps the most famous of all streaks” – Google it!

We’d also like to welcome Jodie Watson, who joined our customer services team in July 2021.

Here are the questions we put to Jodie along with her answers:
1. What did you want to be as a child?

As a child, I always enjoyed gymnastics, I would train most nights with some of the older girls who have now made it to the GB team and the Olympics. I always looked up to them and hoped one day I could be just like them. So, I would say as a child I would have loved to be a Gymnast!

2. What do you enjoy most about your role at Atlantis Tanks?

What I enjoy the most about my role at Atlantis is that I am always learning new things. Every day I learn something new and each day is different.

3. What’s one thing that none of the Atlantis team knows about you?

One thing I don’t think the Atlantis Team know about me is that I performed in “Cinderella” as a dancer at Darlington Hippodrome a few years back. It starred Ashley and Pudsey who won Britain’s Got Talent in 2012. This is about as interesting as I get (Atlantis: Jodie, this is a gem! Well done… you’ve secured your role as entertainment at our next Christmas party!)

And, here’s our take on the Cereals Expo 22

Firstly, as well as being one of our favourite shows for meeting up with customers old and new, Cereals 22 was a great success for us as a business. We made multiple sales, both during the event and afterwards from leads attributable to the contacts made there.

Here are some of the hot topics we picked up on:
  • Probably driven by escalating fuel costs, the bunded plastic diesel tanks (10’000 litres) and small transportable Pollicubes (230 litres) attracted the most attention
  • Also growing in popularity are larger tanks, both steel and plastic, used for farmers to buy diesel in bulk ahead of the harvest
  • Smaller tanks allow fuel to be transported to point of use during harvest thereby saving time refuelling in situ, so they’re another product in high demand
  • Customers valued our short lead times and high stock levels of tanks as this enables us to fulfil orders in a very short window before harvest
  • Tank security and fuel thefts remain a big concern
  • Interest in tanks for storing and dispensing AdBlue® is gathering momentum amidst supply and delivery issues from fuel suppliers
  • There was also a lot of interest in the innovative SmartGuard monitoring system
