Plantworx 2023: Our top 3 takeaways

In June, we exhibited at the UK’s only live demo-based construction equipment and technology event in 2023 – Plantworx. This year, the event was held at the East of England Arena & Events Centre in Peterborough.

What is Plantworx?

Plantworx showcases emerging and innovative technologies alongside construction equipment and associated products and services. The show is the UK’s biennial showcase for the construction sector. It provides a great space for industry professionals to meet up, learn about new construction solutions and discuss the future of the sector.

The exhibition features live demonstrations of the latest machine technology, plant, tools and support products to offer visitors a vibrant, engaging experience and a chance to celebrate the latest industry achievements.

We loved watching the Awesome Earthmover Operator Challenges as well as attending some of the fantastic talks and indoor events. There was a lot to see and do over the 3 days and plenty of opportunities for hands-on experience with the new solutions being showcased.

The voice of the customer

Meeting up with customers and other construction solution providers gives us the chance to learn about new trends and find out what challenges the industry might face in the coming months. That sort of information means we’re able to tailor our product range to meet changing demands and get a feel for the solutions our customers will be looking for in the future.

Of course, we love the social side of a big exhibition. It’s not often we get to meet up with so many other industry professionals and friends in the business but, as well as enjoying the chance to catch up, we were taking notes!

Here are our top 3 takeaways from Plantworx 2023:

  1. Customers told us that they were moving away from using multiple ‘jerrycan’ tanks as this method of re-fuelling is time-consuming and means there’s a high chance of fuel being spilled during the process. Larger fuel tanks that are fitted with pumps save time and provide a more cost-effective solution.
  2. Security was also a common topic of discussion. Waving goodbye to cheaper red diesel and switching to DERV (white diesel) means that the cost of fuel theft is even higher. Many customers now prefer to carry fuel with them at all times rather than leave tanks on site. Our industry-leading PolliCube portable fuel storage tanks are perfect for this!
  3. Many professionals we spoke to are also looking for new, larger storage tanks for white diesel now that this fuel is used in vehicles as well as plant and machinery.
